CNC MACHINED PORT TUNING

CNC head porting is the only accurate way to blueprint a head. It's impossible to match head ports by hand.

Our ports are centered off the valve guide, making the port true to the valve guide and seat, giving us "TRULY BLUE PRINTED HEADS".

All dimensions from the center of the valve guide are within .001". Our heads ported today will be identical to heads we port in the future and flow will be consistent from head to head.

DEFINING CNC MACHINING

CNC stands for computer numerical control. Simply put, the computer is operating the machine. In our application, the computer tells the machining center where to move the cutter. This process assures us that each port will be identical to the last.

CNC DESHROUDED COMBUSTION CHAMBERS

When the valve is against the chamber wall it can't breathe efficiently. Our ported heads have the combustion chambers deshrouded. This process allows the valves to breathe efficiently.

Deshrouding makes the chambers "cc" the same. In addition, our chamber shape makes for a more complete and efficient burn.

FLOW TESTS RESULTS

Our flow tests are done by placing a clay inlay around the intake port. This gives us a flow of 153 cu. Ft. Per minute at .500" valve lift.

We then removed the inlay, and bolted on our match ported intake manifold. The intake flow increased by 6%.

When we bolted on the exhaust manifold, the exhaust flow increased by 4%.

The result of this test concludes that the manifolds increase the flow when bolted on, showing us that the ports are tuned. This process also increases the volumetric efficiency and port velocity, improving the venturi effect.

PORT IMPROVEMENTS

We remove the exhaust guide boss in the exhaust port to increase flow by reducing port angles. By doing this we reduce exhaust heat as fast as possible keeping the guide and valve stem from over heating and failing.

Our next step is to shorten the intake guide by 8mm and then taper it. This process increases the flow.

Our machining is done in a linear motion and finished to a fine polish, ensuring that flow is not interrupted with machine marks which cause turbulence.

Our heads will give you more for your money than many of the performance heads on the market

Our EMPI Dual Port Heads are ported with our Phase-one port job. They come complete with:

  • 40 x 35.5 mm swirl polished stainless steel valves with hardened stems
  • Hi-rev springs
  • ¾" reach spark plugs (the same plugs used in Porsche 914s)
  • three angle valve job
  • Factory installed nickel chromium alloy 40 x 35.5 mm valve seats
  • Silicone bronze valve guides
Our porting is extremely efficient giving awesome driveability at all rpm ranges with no loss of low end. Our CNC cylinder heads are in a class by themselves. You can have all of this for the low price of $570.00 per pair.
We offer match porting of your intake manifolds in the same CNC machine that we port the heads in. Match porting ensures a perfect fit between the intake manifold ports and the heads intake ports which increases port tuning, flow, and horse power. Match porting consists of bushing the mounting holes on the manifolds, giving a precision fit to the head studs removing slop, and then machining the intake manifold ports to match the ports in the head.
Match porting is an additional charge of $80.00 per pair.
